Progress, Balance and Reflections

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
– Robert Collier

As we approach the end of July, I wanted to share some glimmers and new learnings from this month, especially regarding my goals of staying on a budget, returning to healthier habits, and the challenges I faced along the way. This journey is part of my commitment to the next six months, and I hope my experiences inspire you on your path.

Glimmers of Progress and New Learnings

Budgeting and Healthy Habits
July has been a month of trials and triumphs. I’ve been working on sticking to a budget while also returning to healthier habits. It hasn’t been easy, but the biggest glimmer for me has been my perspective. Even when I didn’t meet all my goals for the month, I’m proud of the progress I made.

You might ask, what is this perspective? It’s the realization that any progress is better than none. By focusing on my goals this month, I’ve made strides I wouldn’t have otherwise. Returning to a 9-5 job has helped me keep a routine, but it’s also provided an easy escape to fall back into old habits with endless excuses. Every time I wanted to slip up, I reminded myself, “I love myself enough to make the choice with long-term rewards.” This mantra helped me stay focused.

Small Wins and Lessons Learned
I didn’t restrict myself from enjoying some pleasures. For instance, I treated myself to a new type of Japanese doughnut and bubble tea. I also allowed myself some spending wiggle room for a manicure—keeping it simple without going overboard with fancy designs. These small treats didn’t lead to shame but instead gave me joy and balance.

As I reflect on July, I have some areas I can improve on next month. However, I will continue to lean into my meditation and journaling practices because they bring me peace and clarity in decision-making. These practices have become pillars in my routine, helping me navigate through the ups and downs.

Perspective Is Key
The most significant takeaway from this month is that any goal is attainable. Truly, ANY goal. You are worthy of the life you want to lead, but it requires effort and constant practice. Give yourself grace and remember that shame has no place in your journey over the next five months. Every small step counts, and progress is a process.

As we move into August, what small steps will you take to move closer to your long-range plan? Reflect on your goals and outline actionable steps. Here are some questions to guide you:

– What specific actions can you take daily to support your goals?

– How can you maintain a positive perspective when faced with challenges?

– What routines or practices can you establish to stay on track?
